Vietnam: New regulations on traceability of goods and products
Vietnam has published a Draft Circular stipulating regulations on traceability of goods and products under the management of Ministry of Industry and Trade.
This Draft Circular stipulates requirements for products and goods traceability applicable to products and goods under the management of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
The Draft Circular provides provisions on:
- Principles and methods of product identification and traceability;
- Minimum information requirements for traceability data;
- Responsibilities of traders producing, trading, and importing goods;
- Establishment, operation and connection of internal traceability systems with the Traceability System of the Ministry of Industry and Trade;
- Consumer access to traceability information;
- Management, suspension and revocation of traceability codes;
- Implementation roadmap and transitional provisions.
For instance the labelling requirements are as follows:
When conducting traceability of goods circulating domestically, traders are responsible for declaring at least the following information:
- aProduct name;
- Product image;
- Name of the manufacturing or trading unit;
- Address of the manufacturing or trading unit;
- Production or trading stages performed by the enterprise;
- Production or trading time (time of traceability events);
- Product traceability code;
- Brand, trademark, code, serial number (if any);
- Shelf life of the product (if any);
- Applicable national standards, national technical regulations, international standards, regional standards, and basic standards
For imported goods, in addition to the information specified in Clause 1 of this Article, traders must declare the following information:
- Name, address, and tax code of the importing entity;
- Information about the official distributor in Vietnam (if any).
