Indien: Neue Möbelbestellung (Qualitätskontrolle), 2023

 

India published a new Furniture (Quality Control) Order, 2023.

It makes some types of furniture subject to the Indian ISI certification and prescribes relevant Indian standards for them.

Moreover, the products shall bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards as per Scheme-I of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018

The products in scope are: Work chairs, General purpose chairs and stools, Tables and desks, Storage units, Beds, Bunk beds.

Any person who contravenes the provisions of this order shall be punishable under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
