UAE: New Technical regulations for fuels
The United Arab Emirates have published three new technical regulations for fuels. These are:
- UAE Technical Regulations for Diesel Fuel – Specifications of Biodiesel Blend (B5 to B20)
- UAE Technical Regulations for Gasoline Fuel for Racing Cars – Requirements and Test Methods
- UAE Technical Regulations for Liquefied Petroleum Gases – Mixture of Commercial Propane and Butane
The first one covers diesel fuel blends containing 5% to 20% biodiesel by volume, in accordance with Biodiesel Specification B100 (UAE.S 5023:2018 + Amd 1: 2020), combined with diesel fuel conforming to UAE.S 477:2021 specification. These blends, designated as B5 to B20, are suitable for use in a wide range of diesel engines. The biodiesel component (B100) of the blend shall conform to the requirements of Specification UAE.S 5023:2018 + Amd 1: 2020. The diesel fuel component of the blend shall conform to the requirements of Specification UAE.S 477:2021.
The second one covers the properties and requirements of unleaded gasoline fuel marketed and delivered to use in racing cars. Racing fuel is a specialized, high-octane blend formulated for motorsport engines to prevent premature detonation, withstand higher boost and compression, and maximize engine performance.
The third one is concerned with the specifications and requirements for Liquefied Petroleum Gases (LPG) used as domestic, commercial, or industrial fuel.
