It is applicable to electric mains-operated electronic displays, including televisions, monitors and digital signage displays.

The standard specifies the minimum energy performance requirements for electronic displays. Requirements related to electrical safety, off-mode power consumption and standby mode shall comply with the applicable SASO standards and technical regulations.

The Proposed addendum to the technical Regulation for Energy Efficiency (05-03-16-156), is limited to Annex (1). The addendum consists of an addition of a new standard titled “Electronic Displays – Energy Performance, Testing and Labeling Requirements.”

The standard references the following other norms:

  • SASO GSO 1899 “GCC Standard Voltages and Frequencies for Alternating Current Distribution Systems”
  • EN IEC 62087-1:2015 “Audio, video, and related equipment – Determination of power consumption – Part 1: General”
  • EN IEC 62087-2:2015 “Audio, video, and related equipment – Determination of power consumption – Part 2: Signals and media”
