Saudi Arabia: Updated Technical regulation for energy efficiency
Saudi Arabia has published an updated technical Regulation for Energy Efficiency (05-03-16-156).
It is applicable to electric mains-operated electronic displays, including televisions, monitors and digital signage displays.
The standard specifies the minimum energy performance requirements for electronic displays. Requirements related to electrical safety, off-mode power consumption and standby mode shall comply with the applicable SASO standards and technical regulations.
The Proposed addendum to the technical Regulation for Energy Efficiency (05-03-16-156), is limited to Annex (1). The addendum consists of an addition of a new standard titled “Electronic Displays – Energy Performance, Testing and Labeling Requirements.”

- EN IEC 62087-1:2015 “Audio, video, and related equipment – Determination of power consumption – Part 1: General”
- EN IEC 62087-2:2015 “Audio, video, and related equipment – Determination of power consumption – Part 2: Signals and media”
- EN IEC 62087-3:2015 “Audio, video, and related equipment – Determination of power consumption – Part 3: Television sets”
The measurement and testing method are aligned in accordance with the COMMISSION REGULATION (EU) 2019/2021.
