South Korea: Updates to the safety verification criteria of bicycles

South Korea has published a draft revision of safety verification criteria of bicycles.

The changes were introduced in the KATS Public Notice No. 2025-0334, which amends Article 2 and Article 15 of Electrical appliances and consumer products safety control act.

Among others, new safety requirements (fatigue test with horizontal forces etc.) for bicycles are established.

The proposed date of adoption is August 2026 or later.
