Malaysia: Technical Code for Land Mobile Radio Equipment – Specifications (Second Revision) (MCMC MTSFB TC T012:2025)
Malaysia has published a revised Technical Code for Land Mobile Radio Equipment.
The Technical Code has been developed to certify communications equipment in accordance with Regulation 14 of the Communications and Multimedia (Technical Standards) Regulations 2000 [P.U.(A) 124/2000]. It defines the minimum technical requirements for Land Mobile Radio (LMR) equipment, including base stations, repeater stations, mobile stations, and handheld terminals designed for voice and/or data communications. LMR equipment must operate within the designated frequency bands, channel spacing, and transmit power levels as outlined in Table B.1 of the document.
The purpose of this Technical Code is to ensure that all LMR equipment is certified in compliance with applicable Malaysian Standards, Technical Codes, or through Declarations in accordance with the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 [Act 588], its subsidiary legislation, statutory requirements, and established rules and procedures.
The major updates in this revision include:
a) Updating safety requirements to reference the latest standards.
b) Removing interoperability testing related to GoTa.
c) Excluding citizen band radio (477.0125–477.4875 MHz), family band radio (477.5250–477.9875 MHz), and marine radio from Table B.1.
d) Revising frequency allocations and channel spacing for VHF and UHF bands.
e) Eliminating Table B.2, which contained test limits for analogue personal mobile radio and citizen band radios.
This Technical Code supersedes MCMC MTSFB TC T012:2015, Specification for Land Mobile Radio Equipment. The previous specification is considered invalid to the extent of any conflict with the provisions of this Technical Code.
