Bahrain: New Minimum Energy Performance Standard for refrigerators

 

Bahrain has published a draft technical regulation that specifies the Minimum Energy Performance Standard (MEPS) and testing requirements of refrigerators, refrigerator-freezers and freezers and applies to:

(a) Household Refrigerators, refrigerator-freezers, and freezers that are electrically operated

(b) Household Refrigerators and refrigerator-freezers with a total capacity up to 1500 liters (53 ft3)

(c) Household Freezers with a capacity up to 850 liters (30 ft3)

The following normative reference standards apply. However, this standard supersedes the below reference standards in case of conflicting requirements.

  • GSO 1899: 2016 “GCC Standard Voltages and Frequencies for Alternating Current Distribution Systems”
  • GSO IEC 62552-1:2016
  • GSO IEC 62552-2:2016
  • GSO IEC 62552-3:2016
