China: New GB standards for lithium-ion batteries for self-balancing vehicles (segways)

 

China has published a new version of the standard GB40559—202X Lithium ion cells and batteries used in electrical self-balancing vehicle and scooters —Safety technical specification.

It will replace the voluntary standard from 2021.

The standard specifies safety requirements and test methods for lithium ion cells and batteries used in electrical self-balancing vehicles and scooters.

It’s date of adoption is still open.

Another standard that will become mandatory is GB 34668—20XX Safety technical specification for electric self-balancing vehicles, which specifies the safety requirements of electrical self-balancing vehicles and describes the related test methods.
