India: FAQ regarding Electrical Equipment, (Quality Control) Order
India has published a new FAQ document regarding the Electrical Equipment, (Quality Control) Order.
Some of the questions answered in there are:
Who will require to obtain the license for standard mark from BIS?
Ans. Any person who is engaged in the manufacturing of the electrical equipment mentioned under the table. But any person who is engaged in import, distribute, sell, hire, lease, store or exhibit for sale is not permitted to do such activity, for product(s) mentioned in the table of the Order without a valid standard mark and license under Scheme-X of Schedule–II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018 as per EEQCAO.
A product conforms to requirement of Indian Standard mentioned in the Order, but it is certified against the International Standard. Will the same test certificate is applicable?
Ans. No, you will require to an obtain a BIS license under Scheme-X of Schedule–II to the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations for product conforming to respective Indian Standard mentioned in column 3 of the table of the Order and subsequent amendments made from time to time.
Is it a possibility to use IECEE CB scheme to get a reduced test plan for QCO approval?
Ans. No, IECEE CB scheme is not applicable.
What will be condition, where Product is imported. How will it be covered under QCO.
Ans. Each imported products must have a Standard Mark licence from the Bureau of Indian Standards as per Scheme–X of Schedule–II to the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations. Each manufacturer need to apply to BIS for License as per Scheme-X and BIS Guidelines for Grant of Licence under Scheme-X.
Where to test Products manufactured outside India?
Ans. BIS approved Third Party Lab or in manufacturers’ in-house laboratory as per BIS Guidelines for Grant of Licence under Scheme X.
