Tajikistan: New regulation for the import of vehicles

Tajikistan has published the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan of 2 August 2023, #355 “On the Import Prohibition to the Republic of Tajikistan Vehicles Produced before 2013”.

The Decree was developed to prevent importation of old cars which are the  main  source  of  air  pollution  per  year  that  are  harmful  for  human  health  and environment and significant rise of wastes (batteries, tires, air conditioners) from the old cars.

The implementation of this regulation will commence two months following its publication in the official journal. It encompasses a broad spectrum of vehicles, encompassing those employed for passenger transportation, freight hauling, regular automobiles, and specialized vehicles.

The Customs Service and the Interior Ministry will be tasked with the duty of overseeing, processing customs procedures, and recording the entry of the imported vehicles in accordance with the recently enacted decree.
