EU: New harmonized standards for the EMC Directive published in the EU Official Journal

 

The EU Commission has published the Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2022/622 of 7 April 2022 amending Implementing Decision (EU) 2019/1326 as regards the harmonised standards for electromagnetic compatibility of electricity metering equipment and circuit breakers for household and similar uses

The new standards are relevant for electricity metering equipment.

Among the standards newly declared as harmonized standards under the EMC Directive are:

  • EN IEC 62053-21:2021 Electricity metering equipment – Particular requirements – Part 21: Static meters for AC active energy (classes 0,5, 1 and 2)
  • EN IEC 62053-22:2021 Electricity metering equipment – Particular requirements – Part 22: Static meters for AC active energy (classes 0,1S, 0,2S and 0,5S)
  • EN IEC 62053-23:2021 Electricity metering equipment – Particular requirements – Part 23: Static meters for reactive energy (classes 2 and 3)
  • EN IEC 62053-24:2021 Electricity metering equipment – Particular requirements – Part 24: Static meters for fundamental component reactive energy (classes 0,5S, 1S, 1, 2 and 3)
