EU: Planned consultation about the Waste from electrical and electronic equipment Directive (WEEE)

The EU Commission has announced its intention to carry out a public consultation about the Directive 2012/19/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 4 July 2012 on waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE).

The WEEE Directive on waste from electrical and electronic equipment protects the environment and human health, contributes to sustainable production and consumption, and ensures efficient use of resources by preventing and recovering waste.

The public consultation will evaluate the progress made under the Directive. It will assess whether the objectives are met and to what extent the Directive supports a circular economy and environmentally sound management of waste for electrical electronic equipment.

It is expected to take place in Q2 2022.
