In the recent weeks, the IEC published several new electrotechnical standards. Among them are:
- IEC 60204:2022, ed. 1.0 – Safety of machinery – Electrical equipment of machines – ALL PARTS
- IEC 60825:2022, 1.0 – Safety of laser products – ALL PARTS
- IEC 61000-3:2022, 1.0 – Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) – Part 3: Limit – ALL PARTS
- IEC 61511:2022, 1.0 – Functional safety – Safety instrumented systems for the process industry sector – ALL PARTS
- IEC 60079:2022 SER – Explosive atmospheres – ALL PARTS
- IEC 60749-10:2022 PRV – Semiconductor devices – Mechanical and climatic test methods – Part 10: Mechanical shock – Device and subassembly
- IEC 62872-2:2022 – Industrial-process measurement, control and automation – Part 2: Internet of Things (IoT) – Application framework for industrial facility demand response energy management
- IEC 61850:2022 SER – Communication networks and systems for power utility automation – ALL PARTS
The above list is not comprehensive, though.
Founded in 1906, the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) is the world’s leading organization for the preparation and publication of international standards for all electrical, electronic and related technologies. It is a global, not-for-profit membership organization that brings together more than 170 countries and coordinates the work of 20 000 experts globally.
Many electrotechnical standards adopted in Europe by the European standardization bodies CEN / CENELEC (which often serve as a basis for the CE conformity assessment) are based on the standards developed by the IEC.
