Vietnam: New Decree on the labelling of goods has entered into force

 

The Decree amending and supplementing a number of articles of Decree No.43/2017/ND-CP of the Government on labelling of goods has entered into force in Vietnam.

It applies to almost all goods manufacturer or imported to Vietnam and lays down the rules of product labelling.

Basically, contents that must be shown on labels of goods circulating in the Vietnamese market must be written in Vietnamese.  This is a duty of organizations and individuals that import goods into Vietnam.

Labels of goods circulating in Vietnam are required to show the following contents in Vietnamese:

1. Name of goods;
2. Name and address of the organization or individual responsible for the goods;
3. Origin of goods.
4. Other mandatory contents must be shown on the label according to the nature of each type of goods and other relevant regulations of law.

Goods imported into Vietnam may show the contents in a foreign language.  In this case, after carrying out customs clearance procedures and transferring them to a warehouse for storage, the Importers must add Vietnamese-language labels.
