Ukraine: Amendments to Ukrainian RED (radio law)

Ukraine published a draft Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine “On Amendments to the Resolution No. 355 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of May 24, 2017”, which is the Ukrainian equivalent of the EU Radio Equipment Directive.

The draft harmonizes the Resolution No. 355 in terms of terminology, names of the regulatory body and the central body of the regulatory authority in the field of electronic communications and radio frequency spectrum and the definition of the powers of these bodies.

For example, the definition of radio equipment (radio electronic means) has got a new wording: “an electrical or electronic product designed to emit and / or receive radio waves for radio communication and / or radio detection or equipped with an additional device designed to emit and / or receive radio waves for radio communication and / or radio determination”.

Radio equipment in Ukraine is regulated in a similar way as in the EU under the Radio Equipment Directive (Ukraine harmonizes most of its product regulations with the EU).  Nevertheless, the radio equipment imported and sold on the national territory requires a Ukrainian document of conformity and a national marking.
