A new Technical Regulation for child restraint systems and strollers was published in Saudi Arabia.

This regulation specifies the following: Terms and Definitions, Scope, Objectives, Supplier Obligations, Labelling, Conformity Assessment Procedures, Responsibilities of Regulatory Authorities, Responsibilities of Market Surveillance Authorities, Violations and Penalties, General Provisions, Transitional Provisions, Appendix (lists of standards , HS code, classification of products.

In scope of the regulation are child strollers and child restraint systems used in vehicles.

The supplier of child restraint systems and strollers should ensure that:

  • They meet the technical requirements contained in theTechnical Regulation and the relevant standards.
  • Provide information related to potential health risks, in order to take preventive procedures against those risks.
  • Ensure compliance with the technical requirements of labelling.
  • Carry out the required conformity assessment procedure.
  • Ensure an effective environmental management system in the factory (A factorythat has obtained an environmental certificate according to ISO 14001 is considered to meet this requirement).
  • Ensure that the packaging used is free of lead or any heavy metals.

Regarding the labels, the statements on them should be in the Arabic language, and it may be written in another language in addition to the Arabic language.
